Answer

Where a Shi'a brother has passed away, can a Suni muslim participate in his Janaaza: (a) knowing that the deceased wanted a Shi'a funeral?;and (b) not knowing that the deceased wanted a Shi'a funeral? Jazaakallah.

الجواب حامداومصليا
Among Shias those whose beliefs are in clear contrast with the mainstream beliefs of Islam are not considered true Muslims and those whose beliefs are not in clear contrast with the mainstream beliefs of Islam are considered Muslims.
If the Shia person who passed away is considered a Muslim then it is permissible to participate in his funeral. Otherwise, one should avoid participating in religious rituals of the funeral. Nonetheless, it would be permissible to console and visit the family of the deceased.
