Assalamo Alaikum. I have read on a couple of websites that if an animal is intentionally slaughtered whilst not facing the Qiblah then it is deemed as haram. Is this true? I am from the UK and don't have any religious qualifications but I have spoken to a number of Mufti's regarding this. They have all stated that yes it is preferable for the animal to face Qiblah (as it is a sunnah and not a faradh) but if this is not done, then it doesn't affect the halalness of the animal as long as all the other procedures have been taken. Please clarify

It has not been stated among the conditions of Islamic slaughter that the slaughter must take place after placing the animal toward the direction of Qiblah. Therefore, if the animal was slaughtered while its face was not towards Qiblah then the Dhabiha is Halal irrespective of whether it was done intentionally or unintentionally. Nonetheless it is Mustahab (desirable) to lie the animal towards the direction of Qiblah before slaughtering.
And Allah knows best.
