WHAT IS THE STATUS OF CIRCUMCISION IN ISLAM. IS IT NECESSARY FOR A MUSLIM TO GO FOR IT ?
IF A MUSLIM DON’T GO FOR CIRCUMCISION, WILL HE EXPELLED FROM ISLAM.
Circumcision is known as Khitaan is Arabic language. There is no doubt that circumcision is a well established practice in Islam and it is Sunnah.
The scholars of Fiqh have differed in their opinion as to whether it is a Sunnah or Wajib. The least status of Khitaan in Fiqh is Sunnah and highest status is 'Wajib". According to some scholars it is Wajib meaning obligatory to perform circumcision for men.
The discussion on circumcision may be summarized as " It is highly recommended to have circumcision performed for a man but if due to the possibility of health risks or other dangers it is not possible to have circumcision performed then there is no harm".
No scholar of Fiqh ever considered the person without circumcision out of the fold of Islam. Therefore if someone had not done circumcision then he is still a Muslim by all means.
And Allah knows best.
