We would like to get guidance on the issue of performing multiple umra.
1. Is it Permissable in Islam to perform multiple umra on one visit to Mecca.
2. Is there any reward for performing Multiple Umra's on one visit to Mecca.
3. What does the Quran and Sunna of our habib (Sal) and practice of his noble companions life teach us or tell us on this matter.
4. If is it permissable, on what basis or what sake can we perform multiple Umra.
1- Yes it is permissible to perform multiple Umrah's during one's visit to the Holy city of Makkah.
2- One will receive full reward for each Umrah performed in Makkah.
3- Our beloved Prophet Sallallahu Alaihe Wa Sallam performed only four Umrah's after migration and these four Umrah's were performed in different years according to authentic reports. Ibn-ul Qayyim Al-Jawzi wrote in his book "Zaad-ul Ma'aad": The Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihe Wa Sallam always performed his Umrah when he was entering the Holy city of Makkah. He did not perform Umrah by leaving the boundary of Haram with the intention of Umrah and returning to Makkah. It is reported the A'isha (R.A) performed additional Umrah's in this manner. She left the boundary of Haram and after reaching the Tan'eem area, she made intention of Ihram and performed Umrah after returning to Makkah.
4- It is permissible because it is an act of righteousness and acts of righteousness are allowed or rather encouraged as long as there no command prohibiting it. Among the Salaf there were those who would only perform Umrah once after entering the Holy city of Makkah and there were those who chose to perform multiple Umrah's due it's outstanding reward. No one from among the four Imams forbids the observance of multiple Umrah's while one is visiting the Holy city of Makkah. Imam Abu Hanifah restricts the observance of Umrah during five day which includes:Day of Arafah, Day of Eid al Ad'ha and three days of Tashreeq.
Hence it would remain permissible to perform multiple Umrah's during one's visit to Makkah.
And Allah knows best.
