Answer

Assalam Shaikh, as you wrote in one of your answerwhich is I am not sure how this Nikah was done on the phone but if it was not done in one gathering where both the bride and groom or their Wakeel (representatives) were present in the presence of Muslims witnesses then the Nikah is not valid. Normally, people think that Nikah can be done over the phone even if the bride and groom or their representative are not present in the same Majlis. This is a misunderstanding. Nikah is not valid unless both bride and groom or their representatives are present in the same gathering physically. My question is that when my in law's did our nikkaah I was not present at their house I was at my home, my husband's brother asked me 3xs and he left then at their house they had the person who did the nikkah. I was not present there I did not listen any verses either of nikkah, my mother in law told me that it was her my sister in law and my brother in law were present my husband was in states. Im scared after reading your answer that nikkaah is not valid if you are not physically present there In the gathering. Urgent answer needed please. Jazzakallah Khair

Assalam u Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah,
Dear sister in Islam,
I was unable to recall the answer to which you have made reference in your question. However the answer to your question is below:
It is important for the validity of Nikah that both (bride and groom) or their representatives are physically present in one place during the time of Nikah and that the Ijaab and Qabool is being heard by the Muslim witnesses. If the bride and groom or their representatives are not physically present in the same gathering, rather they are present only by phone or by video link then the Nikah will not be considered valid.
Regarding your specific situation, you may call at 401-762-0107 between 12 pm- 1 pm Eastern time.
