Answer

Assalamu Alaykum I was wondering what should I do (I am a female Muslim) if I come across a situation where I need to engage in physical contact with a man for non sexual reasons. For example: If I were at the market or at school or where ever and a man trips and needs some assistance for helping himself up, what do I do? Or if the opposite gender is injured or in need or simple medical help such as CPR or someone is drowning, what do I do then. I know that a person runs into situations like this once in a blue moon but I just want to be prepared and know what is haraam or halal. If it is for non-sexual reasons, am I allowed to have physical contact with a man when it comes to assisting him in there sort or situations or should I just walk away whether or not he needs help?

الجواب حامداومصليا

Under the circumstances described in your question, it is permissible to enage in physical contact with the person of opposite gender as long as the intention is to purely help the other person by saving his life or so and there is no sexual inclination.

And Allah knows best.
