Salamu Alaykum, My simple question is, I unfortunately am a drinker. However, I heard that before any of my work for god is accepted I have to stay sober (not a single drop of alcohol) for 40 days. I haven't had a drink in almost two weeks now preparing for ramadan. My question is, will my Siyam be accepted? Keeping in mind I will probably get back on alcohol right after ramadan.

My dear respected brother in Islam,

The most important thing is your sincere intention to give up the sin of drinking and immediately start living a life of righteousness.

Once you have sincerely repented to Allah then Allah will accept your good deeds immediately.

I believe you have sincerely repented to Allah and now you are ready to obey the orders of Allah and prepare for the Holy month of Ramadhan.

There is no reason to think that Allah will not accept your Fasting (Siyam). You should start doing good deeds immediatley and remain steadfast on your avoidance of drinking at all cost.

May Allah grant you steadfastness and firmness on Deen.

And Allah knows best.
