Assalamulaikum Dear Scholar,
We are going to be slaughtering a cow for this eid ul adha. The problem we are facing is we see online many sites mentioning that the animal must have horns and not removed to be eligible for qurbani. The problem is in the USA, 99% of all cattle for sale have had their horns removed at birth. This does not cause any brain damage or any health problems etc and infact helps the animal be more safe and not get hurt by other bulls etc. Can you please clarify and provide any daleel on this matter. Jzk.
If removal of horns from cows at birth does not have any negative impact on their brain then it will not be considered a defect. Thus the sacrifice of such cow or goat will be considered permissible as long as it does not have any other physical defect and meets the minimum age requirement.
And Allah knows best.
